Details: Plaster cast of a sandstone sculpture by Desiderio da Settignano (1429-1464). Desiderio's work is often mistaken for that of the sculptor Donatello due to his mastery of low relief and sculpture from life. Desiderio is from a later generation and credited with bringing an end to "ugly renaissance babies" in art. A metal loop is embedded in the plaster for hanging.
