Details: "Diane" Goddess of the Hunt Bronze reproduction, likely by Francois Moreau (1832-1927). Originally a figural lamp that sat on the bottom post of the main staircase in Linden Hall, an 1880s estate in Foster, Virginia. The statue has a wonderful patina and has been paired with a lovely Rosewood base (unattached).
Hippolyta was the Queen of the Amazons, a mythic race of warrior women. Zeus and Hippolyta conceived Diana, eventually known as the Goddess of the Hunt. She is always depicted with a bow and arrow.
