The original gold-wash finish shows an authentic vintage patina, tarnish, surface wear, and few dents\/dings, but the hand-engravings remain exceptionally crisp.  The mother-of-pearl finger buttons are in mint condition. Original case shows expected external wear and scuffs, but is structurally sound. The interior plush lining shows age expected discoloration and wear. Of the three latches, one latch does not fasten, but the remaining two function properly and keep the case closed.
