Dimensions: sconce - 16" Tall x 4" Wide x 4" Deep
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Some very minor scratches. Williamsburg-style shades are not original. Tiny fleabites on bottom edge of shades where they sit in the holder. Not visible when assembled and possibly original to manufacturing.
Details: Highly polished brass sconces with shield-shaped reflector plates surmounted by neo-Classical urns draped on either side by laurel garlands. Molded tassel shape at bottom of shield. Brass continues down and outward, ending in a circular collar, which holds a brass candle cup with pendant finial. Blown glass shades taper gently out from the neck. Back of each sconce is stamped with the Virginia Metalcrafters logo and the model number 2009. One sconce is additionally stamped "1", the other is stamped "2" on back.
Beginning in 1890 as the Waynesboro Stove Company, Virginia Metalcrafters became known nationwide for its fine cast iron and brass wares. They were contracted to a number of historical sites to manufacture fine reproductions, The company shut its doors in 2006. The original building in Waynesboro, Virginia is now on the National Register of Historic Places.
