This fine print illustrates the incomparable scientific accuracy and artistic achievement of Daniel Giraud Elliot. A follower of Audubon, Elliot was the preeminent ornithologist, artist, scientist, publisher, and collector of the 19th century.
His masterpiece, The Family of Pheasants (1870-72), is a work of unequalled importance and opulence. The centerpiece of this celebrated folio publication is its suite of eighty one individually hand-coloured lithographs.
Each superb plate shows the artist at the pinnacle of his powers.
THE ELLIOT COLLECTION is a limited-edition series of lithographic reproductions from Elliot's epoch-making book on pheasants. Each print in the Collection is hand-etched on archival paper, assuring the collector's continued enjoyment and appreciation.
