Details: Straight-sided, unglazed dark blue cylindrical vase with applied decorations of classical musicians (man and woman each playing a lyre). Frieze near top of floral vine. Raised white unglazed bands above and below frieze, and beneath neoclassical decoration. Unglazed white ogee foot and white glazed interior. Incised on bottom "WEDGWOOD" and "MADE IN ENGLAND".
First developed by Josiah Wedgwood in the 1770's, Jasperware is noted for its unique matte finish formula, cameo-like relief decoration, and neoclassical designs.
