Details: Elegant Old Sheffield Plate set comprised of two tall pepper shakers and two open salts with spoons. The entire set presents a Neo-Classical style with fluted, urn-shaped vessels on square bases and ball feet featuring lion's head handles and chased details. The shakers and one open salt sport an engraved rampant lion, the remaining open salt is engraved with a griffin and has a larger base than the other. The salt spoons have widely flaring handles tipped by a classic scallop shell. A beautiful set with wonderful patina.
All pieces are unmarked with the exception of the salts which bear what appears to be a four-leaf clover on the center of the bottom. The salts would originally have had glass liners to protect the silver from corrosion.
