Details: Stretch Glass is a type of iridized glass that undergoes a reheating process after being coated with metallic sprays, causing the glass to split and form fine striations and a unique iridescent effect on the external surface. Some stretch glass pieces are further enhanced through additional manipulation, such as flaring, crimping, or pulling the edges, such as this piece. This glass style was initially introduced in the USA around 1916 and became highly popular in the 1920s. Fenton was one of the few glass companies that produced Stretch Glass and it has become highly collectible.
