The bottom is stamped with "TRIPLE DEPOSIT MAPPIN & WEBB PRINCE'S PLATE LONDON&SHEFFIELD".
Made in pint and half-pint sizes, these tankards were often presented as trophies or corporate gifts. The small hexagonal stamp containing the crown and GR 6 dates the tankard to the reign of Britain's King George VI (Georgius Rex), 1936-1952. Mappin & Webb's Prince's Plate was made with a heavy triple layer of silver, giving the pieces the luster, wear and appearance of sterling silver.
