Reminiscent of English chintzware of the same period the set is decorated with yellow buttercups and lilies of the valley accented with hand painted, raised white enamel details, all on a pale blue, crosshatch background. Handles and trim are painted gold. The plate and tray are marked on center bottom in blue "Paul Pastaud Usine ; Rue Jules Noriac, 14, 16, 18  LIMOGES".  The blade of the server is stainless steel,  wider and sharpened on one side and is marked with a Viking ship with the word ARMADA in the sail, and INOX in the waves.
Paul Pastaud was a well-known porcelain decorator in Limoges.  He opened his own atelier in Limoges in 1926.
