Charles Christofle founded his company in 1830. A jeweler and silversmith, he purchased the patents for silver and gold electroplating in 1842. He held the only patents for these processes for over 15 years. The company was the Imperial Goldsmith for Napoleon III. Christofle is one of the most recognized and respected names in silver around the world.
