European Petit Point Evening Bag w/Enameled Metal Frame & Stone Clasp

Construction:  Wool Petit Point, Gold-Colored Metal Frame, Stone Clasp

Dimensions:  6 3/4" Tall x 7" Long x 3/4" Wide

Condition:  Very good pre-owned vintage condition. Some loss of enamel on frame, two marquisites missing from frame. A few stains on the interior. Please see photos. 

Details:  Angular rectangular petit point bag with gold-toned metal frame. Frame has enameled panel of burgundy or deep chocolate brown.  Hinged frame has decorative marquisite-set motif below clasp.  Clasp is topped by a carnelian-colored domed stone.  Body of bag features elaborate floral grouping in center on cream surrounded by tan-to-gold scroll curves. Surrounding background is deep midnight navy. Three-quarter inch petit point panel of scrolling curves with roses on a charcoal grey ground extends around bottom of bag from hinge to hinge. Seams are piped in very fine cord covered in gold grosgrain fabric. Bag is lined in what was once pale rose or ivory silk faille with one open inside pocket. "Made in Austria" can be made out faintly on the outside of the pocket.
