This original service piece was manufactured by the renowned N.S. Meyer, Inc. in New York during the mid-1950s. The front of the insignia features the official US Air Force Coat of Arms (eagle claw with arrows and crossed lightning bolts) on the central shield, flanked by beautifully detailed outstretched wings.
Collector & Production Significance:
The reverse side is highly detailed and heavily hallmarked, making it a fantastic addition for serious militaria researchers:
  • Features the raised N.S. MEYER, INC. NEW YORK maker text alongside their signature raised Eagle-and-Shield logo.
  • Features the highly desirable "9M" inside a shield hallmark. This alphanumeric coding system was introduced by the U.S. military in 1954 to regulate insignia production, placing the manufacture date of these wings firmly between 1954 and the early 1960s.
Material & Specifications:
  • Composition: Classic period-accurate copper-nickel-zinc alloy with a silver-filled/plated surface finish.
  • Fasteners: Includes both original smooth pin posts and two period-authentic, flat-faced brass clutches that lock securely.
  • Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The badge has not been chemically cleaned or polished, preserving its beautiful, natural aged dark patina.
