100% Traditional Joinery: In keeping with true 19th-century craftsmanship, there are absolutely no screws or modern metal fasteners used in the construction of this table. The heavy frame relies completely on traditional blind mortise-and-tenon joints and hand-carved wooden pegs.
Dimensions: 43 ½” Long x 20” Wide x 16 ½” Tall
Condition: Excellent antique condition. The heavy walnut frame remains structurally rigid. The screwless wood joints remain tight and secure. The leather top has developed a stunning, dark mahogany patina with minor surface hazing, dust in the tooling recesses, and gentle character cuffs that confirm its authenticity. It has been kept in a climate-controlled environment. Please see photos.
Details: An incredibly rare 19th century Peruvian Spanish colonial revival table/ accent bench showcasing the masterwork of early Andean talabartería (leather artistry) and traditional carpentry, likely commissioned as a high-level diplomatic or corporate presentation piece during the late 1800’s.
The top of the table features three intricately embossed, hand tooled crests: The Great Seal of the United States, the Central Spanish Colonial Crest, and the National Coat of Arms of Peru.
