Details: A beautiful depiction of rural Southern life from days gone by, by Atlanta-area artist Ann Mount. A young girl ushers a lamb across the top of a dam toward a paddock dotted with more sheep and lambs. The meticulously painted farmhouse, with the sturdy, barn back onto woods showing early-Autumn color. The moody blues of the sky are reflected in the waterway in the left foreground. Soft greens and rusty browns form a perfect foil for the bright whites of the sheep and the house. A fluted gold frame, with natural linen beveled mat and gilt wood inner filet, complement the painting to its best advantage.
Born in Atlanta in the 1930's, Ann Mount studied architecture, as painting was not a suitable occupation for a woman at the time. She had drawn and painted since childhood, and as an adult, became a well-known independent artist, depicting scenes of rural life and Southern culture.
