A beautiful, highly collectible Henri Gautier Virtuoso Cornet dating back to approximately 1913-1914. This historic instrument is a "stencil" horn commissioned by the legendary Lyon & Healy music company of Chicago and expertly manufactured in Austria by the renowned craftsmen at Bohland & Fuchs. The valve casing features the rare stamp "PAT. JULY 1910" along with the serial number 10071. The Virtuoso model was highly prized for its unique versatility. Unlike standard horns, this model was designed as a multi-key convertible instrument. Depending on your choice of tuning slides, it can be played in Bb, A, or C. The ability to play in the key of C allows a horn player to read directly off standard piano, vocal, or church hymnal sheet music without the need to transpose.
