A matched pair of antique French revival figural sculptures. Dating to the late 19th century (circa 1880–1900), each sculpture features a beautifully cast and dynamically posed putto (cherub) with finely detailed wavy hair and draped waistcloths.
Crucially, this pair remains 100% complete on their original turned hardwood pedestal bases, retaining the authentic 19th-century underside mounting hardware. They have not been remounted, modified, or separated over the last century.
These pieces are unsigned, which is standard and typical for decorative bronze mantle and cabinet sets cast during this era.
Standing at a prominent 7.5 inches tall with wide, heavy 4-inch diameter bases, this left-and-right facing pair offers substantial visual weight. They are perfectly scaled for symmetry on a fireplace mantel, library desk, or flanking a center clock in a curated cabinet.
- Total Height: 7.5 inches including the original base.
- Base Diameter: 4 inches.
- Base Details: Original turned hardwood column pedestals with period-appropriate central underside mounting hardware.
- Condition: Excellent Antique Condition. The gilt bronze surfaces are exceptionally clean with a stunning, untouched aged patina. The original finish shows beautiful warmth, crisp casting details, and very minor surface wear or dust in the crevices consistent with age and careful display. There is a crack in one of the turned wood bases though the base remains structurally sound. Please see photos.
