Details: Speckled gray, fluted pottery vase by renowned artisan Jorge Wilmot. The vase is decorated with brown, blue, and black floral elements and butterflies. Marked with a signed "W" near the edge of the base.
Artist Jorge Wilmot (1928-2012) was as esteemed artisan and ceramics instructor in Tonalá, Jalisco. He has been credited with the introduction of high fire pottery techniques in Mexico. His work blended Oriental inspired designs with Mexican motifs, and was widely sold and exhibited both in Mexico and abroad.
