A near identical pair of antique brass-mounted coconut shell tripod bowls. Dating back to the late 19th century, these unique vessels represent classic "Cabinet of Curiosity" decor.
Because every natural coconut varies in size and contour, each piece was dynamically hand-fitted with its own polished brass strap framework, decorative starburst accents, and stylized tripod feet. While not an identical mold match, they feature the exact same workshop craftsmanship, metal styling, and materials, making them a fantastic cohesive pair for display.
The interior showcases the rich, natural fibrous texture of the polished coconut hull, while the exterior boasts a deep, dark brown luster contrasted beautifully by the golden patina of the vintage brass.
Condition Report:
Very good antique condition with a wonderful aged patina. The brass framework holds the coconut shells securely. No major cracks to the organic hulls. Minor surface wear, light scuffs, and character marks consistent with age and handling. Please examine all high-resolution photos closely as they form part of the physical description.
