A pair of beautiful, highly decorative oval oil landscape paintings presented inside stunning, heavy giltwood frames. The artwork features classic pastoral, Italianate scenes depicting figures resting near a flowing forest stream under a natural rocky archway and a mounted figure riding into the woods. They beautifully channel the romantic styles of 17th- and 18th-century European masters.
The paintings are clearly signed "Van Leuen" in the lower register, a classic mid-century studio name utilized to offer an air of old-world sophistication.
The Frame: The highlight of this listing for many decorators are the magnificent rectangular giltwood frames. They feature detailed neoclassical scrollwork at the corners and a dramatic round/oval matte border that perfectly frames the canvas.
