The Societe Holophane Francais began producing art glass in 1925, focusing on high quality press-molded glass. In 1935 they opened Verlys of America in Newark, Ohio. Molds were sent to Ohio from France. Production of this art glass declined during the war, as the plants were placing more emphasis on producing industrial materials, and the Verlys range was eventually shut down, in the early 1950's in Ohio, and in the early 1960's in France. Some Verlys molds were leased to Heisey from 1955-57, and items made from these molds at this time were unsigned. In 1966 the Fenton Art Glass Company purchased the surviving molds, producing items in distinctly different colors than those used by Verlys.
