Subject & Style:
A beautifully executed, large-scale vintage oil-on-canvas still life painting in the classic Dutch Golden Age style. It features an opulent banquet scene centered around a vibrant red lobster on a draped table, flanked by rich clusters of grapes, apples, lemons, a glass of wine, and wine bottles. The composition utilizes a dramatic, dark chiaroscuro background reminiscent of 17th-century masters like Willem Kalf and Jan Davidsz. de Heem.
Signature & Origin:
The piece is signed "E. Tygör" in the lower corner, a known pseudonym/studio signature used by highly skilled mid-century European commercial workshops producing premium decorative arts for fine galleries and design showrooms.
Framing & Provenance:
The canvas is beautifully paired with its heavy, highly ornate gilded wood statement frame. The reverse bears the original mid-century vintage paper label reading: "Custom Framed by General Glass Corp." (a prominent, historic Mid-Atlantic glass and fabrication firm based out of Maryland).
Condition Report:
Very good vintage condition. The oil on canvas displays vibrant colors and rich texture. The canvas is mounted to board, and in direct angled light shows a few areas of minor bubbling/canvas delamination. This does not affect the paint layer (no flaking or paint loss) and is not noticeably apparent under standard room lighting. The gilt frame is sturdy, showing minor age appropriate wear and light finish dusting. Please see photos.
