Craftsmen in Norway and the rest of Scandinavia have been producing designs in pewter since Roman times. Tin and lead have been mined in the area since the third century. Lead is no longer used in making pewter, but tin, copper and bismuth are combined in different combinations to create pewter ware, with the finest pewter containing the highest percentage of copper.
