Edward Marshall Boehm was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1913. After serving in World War I, he apprenticed with the sculptor Herbert Haseltine, and taught himself how to make porcelain. He married Helen Franzolin in 1944 and together they opened Edward Marshall Boehm Studio in Trenton, NJ. After his death in 1969, Helen continued to expand the company, purchasing potteries in Great Britain into the 1980's. Boehm is considered one of America's pre-eminent porcelain artists, particularly in wildlife representation. His works have been collected by museums and collectors worldwide.
