Details: Round ashtray with a repeating pattern of small leaves on a stem around outer sides and top of raised edge. On top, 12 rows of three rounded conical cabochons are evenly spaced, radiating from the clear recessed center. Marked on bottom with acid-etched "LALIQUE CRISTAL FRANCE" in an arc.
While the Sumatra Ashtray was an original Rene Lalique design from the mid 1920's, this particular example was made sometime after Rene's death in 1945, at a time when the company was referring to itself and its products as Cristal Lalique. Pieces signed this way are not seen as often as others. This design is no longer in production.
